[attr="class","likedoinfo"]We encourage creativity but it's important to keep in mind that we are a semi-realistic site along with it being semi-fantasy. If you have any questions regarding any aspect of your character and whether it is permissible on this site please don't hesitate to contact a staff member! Remember that this guide will evolve as new mutations and powers are discovered with the influence of the Gods returning!
[attr="class","likedosub"]SIZE AND BODY TYPE
Wolves can be arranged into 6 different size categories; extra-small, small, medium, large, extra-large, dire. Please keep in mind that the species and/or subspecies which make up your character will ultimately dictate their size limitations, so be sure to reference the size ranges of accepted species and subspecies below. Remember that certain sizes will also affect health and litter sizes.
We also are aware that the sizes aren't the same as any real wolves, please remember that we are only semi-realistic and that the rules of the site are to give enough creativity freedom without going overboard.
Notes:Extra-small: 15 - 19 inches
Small: 20 - 25 inches
Medium: 26 - 30 inches
Large: 31 - 35 inches
Extra-large: 36 - 43 inches (Extra-large start off at 36 inches, any additional inches must be purchased at the shop)
Dire: 44 - 50 inches (Dires start off at 44 inches, any additional inches must be purchased at the shop)
Wolves come in all shapes and sizes but here we have 4 different body types. Although we do not use stats here in fights for all battles, we do use them as a guideline to certain fights if necessary (judged fights). Body type and stats can also affect how well your character does in certain duties, or in situations (modded activities).
Brawny: Naturally muscular, with less fat. Their best attribute is their Strength. (Strength: 15, Defence: 5, Speed: 5)
Resilient: Have a good ratio between fat and muscle, with sometimes leaning more toward the husky side; their best attribute is their defence and ability to survive in colder climates. (Strength: 5, Defence: 15, Speed: 5)
Agile: Slender/lean build which make them natural runners. (Strength: 5, Defence: 5, Speed: 15)
Average: Standard build, they are not adept in defence, speed or strength, but average in each of the statistics. (Strength: 8, Defence: 8, Speed: 8)
[attr="class","likedosub"]SKILLS
Certain levels of skills may be required for certain events/duties/missions, etc... You do not need to build or care about skills if you do not wish to.
Wisdom: Always starts off as your wolf's age, +2.
Combat: Excels in battle, they are natural fighters
Hunting: Excels in hunting, these individuals rarely go hungry
Healing: Healers who can heal wounds, poisons, and aid in birth of young
Navigation: Can navigate the lands and the stars, they can also tell the weather
To build on stats, you must accomplish certain tasks. Please visit the skills page to see what tasks must be done in order to build on your character. Please note that you can always PM the admin to see what kind of stat boosts you can get for your character when they enter. We understand that an older wolf joining is impossible to have the same skill stats as a new born. However, your stats will be determined by an Admin depending on your character profile. They will not be given a large stat boost, but a fair one due them just joining.
You cannot ask for another assessment on your basic stats if you do not like what you are given.[attr="class","likedosub"]AGING
Remember that we run at real time here on Carpe Noctem. Wolves will have an average lifespan of 8 years (unless you buy the immortality at the shop). The most common age classes are; Pups (0 to 11 mo), Yearlings (12 to 23 mo), Adults (>2 years, sexual maturity) and Elders (+6 years).
A female can get pregnant at any time of the year here in CN, however she cannot get pregnant again for another 5 months after her last litter.
We would like to note that some litters may be declined if there are too many pups being born at a time, and there are not enough players to adopt them. To reduce these chances, we will only allow 1 litter to happen per month, however you can ask for a breeding permission at any time. A staff member will let you know when the next slot is open for your breeding to happen. Puppies without players will be considered still borns.
[attr="class","likedosub"]SPECIES
Remember that many of the species have been edited and changed to suit Carpe Noctem better, to give us more variety and history to them.
[attr="class","hh"]TIMBER WOLF
HEIGHT: 26 to 32 in | WEIGHT: 70 to 100 lbs | COMMON
A wolf that normally has an average build, they are normally hues of grey, varying from white to black and sometimes are found sporting brownish markings. They thrive in colder to neutral climates along with densely wooded areas.
[attr="class","hh"]ETHIOPIAN WOLF
HEIGHT: 20 to 26 in | WEIGHT: 24 to 38 lbs | COMMON
One of the smallest species of wolf, they are similar to the coyote in physiques, elegant with long slender builds, and will often take offence if they are called coyotes in any way. They normally have reddish fur with white, with slender bodies. They take very well to the warmer climates, but will do well in cooler areas too.
[attr="class","hh"]ARCTIC WOLF
HEIGHT: 24 to 33 in | WEIGHT: 70 to 100 lbs | RARE
Distinguished by their white fur and normally light coloured eyes, Arctic wolves fair well in the colder climates offered by Kalypsus. They have thick fur that also covers their pads, they are the only species of wolf that will be accepted with pure white fur.
[attr="class","hh"]MACKENZIE VALLEY WOLF
HEIGHT: 30 to 34 in | WEIGHT: 100 to 140 lbs | UNCOMMON
Their coloration is close to that of the Timber Wolf, they simply seem to be a larger cousin of the Timber wolf. Despite their size, they fair very well in the wetlands and are excellent swimmers thanks to the slight webbing between their toes.
[attr="class","hh"]PENNSYLVANIA WOLF
HEIGHT: 32 to 36 in | WEIGHT: 110 to 190 lbs | RARE
One of the larger wolves available, the Pennsylvania wolf has long been believed to be extinct after the second war. Their dark coloration, robust physiques, and thick fur make them excellent mountain dwellers.
[attr="class","hh"]MEXICAN WOLF
Height: 25 to 31 in | Weight: 60 to 80 lbs | COMMON
With a mixture of browns, reds, grey, black, and white, they are easily recognizable despite them seemingly similar to the Timber wolf. They thrive in warmer climates and grasslands.
[attr="class","hh"]RED WOLF
HEIGHT: 26 to 32 in | WEIGHT: 40 to 80 lbs | COMMON
with short red fur and sturdy physiques, red wolves can be spotted a mile away. They along with the other common wolves thrive in woodlands and the grasslands, normally staying away from the colder climates. They have survived many natural disasters that have wiped our or nearly wiped our many species, while the other dominant species were untouched.
[attr="class","hh"]MANED WOLF
HEIGHT: 30 to 35 in | WEIGHT: 60 to 100 lbs | RARE
A rare wolf that is often seen as its own species (for the sake of the site, we allow them to breed with other wolf/coyote species). They are tall, slender, fox like wolves who share many aspects with the reddish canine, they also sport the signature black mane on their nape.
[attr="class","hh"]COYOTE
HEIGHT: 20 to 26 in | WEIGHT: 15 to 45 lbs | COMMON
Although they aren't wolves, they have found their way as one of the main species found wandering the lands of Kalypsus, they range from every land and climate, and are often seen as a bad omen to the more religious wolves of the land. They are clever and easily adapt to harsh environments or treatments.
[attr="class","likedosub"]EYES
We allow any color of eyes here you can think of, with some exceptions. You can pick any hue, any color you can think of.
Pupil less eyes must be purchased, unless your character is blind.
Heterochromia (two different coloured eyes) must be purchased at the shop. If your character has more than one color in their eyes, that is fine, so long as both eyes are the same.
The sclera (white part of their eye) must be white unless they have a mutation that allows them otherwise.
[attr="class","likedosub"]FUR
We will only allow natural fur colours for characters, unless they have been given a mutation. So we will not be accepting pink, purple, green, etc... fur collars for the time being.
